Young
Photographers' Page
Photography is such a wonderful medium of
expression and communication
that everyone should be encouraged to take a keen interest in it.
especially as it is now so very affordable. I was given my first camera
before I started schooling and it was, for me, the best ever Christmas
present. For over 30 years, I never went anywhere without a camera and
I cultivated a lifelong practice of observing and enjoying beautiful
light, shapes and colours in everyday life - such a bonus to living!
In an effort to encourage budding
photographers, each issue will
feature the creativity of a young (up to and including year 12)
photographer. All students are welcome to submit their page (size 130 x
190mm) in jpg format accompanied by a brief write up of not more than
100 words and a signed parent's consent (form available for download
from our website) for the publication of the work. The chosen work will
be printed in the magazine as well as being posted on the magazine
website. The photographer will be awarded an entitlement to 100 A5 size
enlargements (valid for one year). All other students submitting works
will receive entitlements to 4 A5 enlargements to be used within one
month.
Check the website for more information and
we look forward to your
participation. Have fun!
The first off the block is Lisa, a Yr 9 student of Hornsby Girls'
High School.
These photos were taken during a Visual
Arts/Photography school
excursion, with the set task being to take photos of the many
contrasting facets of the city. She herself took 942 photographs during
the course of this one school day, with the hope of capturing as many
photo opportunities as possible.
